In early 2021, Masonry Quality Stone received an email from the Hawaii Municipal Engineering Project Team asking us to provide some step panels for their new municipal plaza/garden project, which is to open to the public in the first half of 2022 and provide a new fitness and recreational area for local residents. The project is now mostly complete, with some landscaping items remaining to be completed. The main objective of this project is to purchase some vintage, durable decorative stone for the steps of some public areas. After many emails, our company finally suggested to the customer to use a black basalt stone to do this step part, which is simple and generous, stain-resistant, and does not need special maintenance.

Black Basalt Treads are gorgeous treads that are sawn out of black basalt columns and have 4 edges surface that is split face, the top surface flamed and brushed, making the basalt more dark/black. So, you have a choice of which edge to expose for a natural contrast or a more formal look. The sizes are around L 1200mmm, W 600mm, Thickness around 100-120mm.
