White onyx is a variety of Chalcedony, a micro-crystalline Quartz, silicon dioxide, which shows straight, parallel banding. The colour for the various types of onyx range from and include a mixture of white, black, brown, orange, red, yellow and green, depending on the mineral inclusion.
